What a Week at Balmoral Show 2026 🐴

Balmoral Show 2026 – ESR Bar Recap

ESR Bar  |  Balmoral Show 2026 Recap

After months of preparation, it was fantastic to finally be back at one of the biggest dates in the Irish equestrian calendar. Across the four days, the atmosphere around the showgrounds was brilliant β€” with huge crowds, busy rings and strong support for the horse sections throughout the event.

Saturday's weather definitely tested everyone a little 🌧️, but even with the rain, the turnout and energy around Balmoral remained impressive from start to finish. That kind of resilience is something the equestrian community never seems to be short of.

So Many Great Conversations

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped to chat with the ESR team during the week. We had so many wonderful conversations with riders, owners, handlers and families β€” about horse safety, travelling, tying up correctly, handling horses in busy environments and reducing avoidable accidents around yards and at shows.

The number of people who came over to ask questions, share their own experiences and talk through the details of safer horse handling was genuinely brilliant to see. Events like Balmoral are exactly the kind of setting where these conversations matter most β€” with so many horses, people and vehicles in close proximity across a full week.

One of the best parts of shows like this is hearing real experiences from people right across the equestrian community, and seeing how awareness around safer horse handling continues to grow. Every conversation counts.

Highlights from the Horse Sections

It was also great to see the horse sections so well supported again this year β€” with excellent competition, busy collecting rings and plenty of interest around the showing, ridden and in-hand classes. The standard across the board was impressive and a real credit to all the riders, handlers and owners who put in so much work behind the scenes.

Major events like Balmoral are always a reminder that preparation matters just as much as performance. From calm loading and safe travel to handling horses in busy showground environments β€” the smallest details can make the biggest difference over the course of a long day.

That message sits right at the heart of ESR Bar:
Never leave safety to chance.
